Israel's Hard Line
[ send me this paper ]
A 5 page paper discussing Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's hard line on allowing increases in the numbers of Jewish residents in established settlements in the area of Israel that is continually disputed in ownership by the Arabs. The paper compares two 1995 editorials written after Netanyahu had been in office for six months, and both promised the potential of warfare if Netanyahu continued to refuse to back away from his assertion that Jews have the right to inhabit all areas of their own country. The writer concludes that a better time to question Netanyahu's philosophies would have been before his election to office, and that the example of a national leader adhering to campaign promises is so unusual that other national leaders have no experience in dealing with it.

5 pages in length. Historically, there have been mixed reactions to American immigration into Israel. Of course, an influx of people typically means a boost to the economy by way of more money circulation and an increased work force. However, it also represents a crowding of more than just physical bodies; it means that Israeli citizens become faced with an issue of Orthodox versus non-Orthodox religious beliefs. This issue has proven to be a considerable problem with respect to American immigration. The writer discusses the effects of American immigration as it relates to Israel. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
