The Cold War was a direct consequence of the development of nuclear weapons and the political dichotomy of communism and capitalism. After World War I, the emergence of new political powers such as the United States, which had been forced out of their policy of isolationism by the War, and Russia brought to the political consciousness the stark differences in ideologies. This 2 page essay argues that the 'Cold War' continues in that the emotional wounds that were created during that period of history are still a reality to the people who were the audience.
